The exposition of the Museum of Russian Railways is naturally divided into thematic blocks arranged in chronological order in accordance with historical periods. Each period has characteristic features and peculiarities, but they are all interconnected. In structure, this connection is in many ways reminiscent of an extensive network of railways, travel along which is impossible without turnouts. Once in the museum, the visitor begins to move along the route and finds himself in the context of different places, times and events associated with the Russian railway.
Walking through the exhibition halls, the visitor interacts with a variety of interactive, multimedia and kinetic objects that break the monotony of the classic exhibition narrative, organically complementing the museum collection. The semantic center of the concept of the exposition is a large-scale, multimedia and interactive installation "The Hands of Time", interacting with which, the visitor literally and physically rotates the mechanism, moving the clock hands and the hands of the railway tracks, to different time periods of the construction of railways in Russia, thus revealing historical plots different times and geography. Based on a unique
collection of rolling stock, the museum exposition is complemented by a huge number of the most modern interactive and multimedia exhibits, which are located in space in such a way as to create a certain rhythm of perception for visitors, breaking the monotony and monotony. The modular navigation system deserves special attention, which is part of a single set of graphic solutions and a series of sculptural compositions dedicated to historical and modern railway professions.

As a large-scale architectural, multimedia, interactive, kinetic installation, "Arrows of Time" reflects the central idea of the museum's concept. Slogan: "Translate the Arrows of Time" - encourages the visitor to turn the mechanism of the interactive table, select a historical period
and plunge into the information and visual content of the selected time period. At the same time, during the rotation of the mechanism, the visitor sees on the table how the railway network changed and developed. After making the choice, the attention of the audience is presented with a large-scale historical plot shown on projection screens located in the arches of the fan depot. The multimedia kinetic table for content management in a certain artistic way performs the function of a turntable, which historically was located exactly at this place. The image of the turntable is complemented by an accompanying multimedia projection on the floor, walls and ceiling, involving the entire space of the hall in the overall action, as the railway network changed and developed
in Russia

The museum has implemented a numerous series of interactive multimedia installations
when interacting with them, the visitor can revive the historical plot, frozen in the form of a sculptural composition, by his actions. Many
of the plots have a direct relationship with the rolling stock, next to which they are located
The models for creating the images of the sculptures were the same people who participated in the filming of the historical plot, providing
thus an exact portrait resemblance
Artistic and technical solutions

The unified navigation system of the museum is based on the principle of modularity, which allows you to supplement the system with new elements and adjust visiting routes. The structural elements of the navigation system are made in the context of the technical theme of the exposition
Graphic style developed
taking into account compatibility with the Russian Railways brand

Thematic showcase complexes of the museum are interesting not only for their content,
but also the form of exposition equipment.
So, for example, the theme "Passenger transportation" is represented by showcases made in the form of segments of a passenger car, and the theme "Freight transportation" contains a showcase complex made in the form of segments of a railway tank
To form a thematic context, display cases are complemented by floor graphic elements

A large number of kinetic models and layouts in the exhibition allow you to more accurately show the principles of operation of historical mechanisms, set the dynamics, and complement the image of the museum.
and increase the attractiveness for visitors of different age groups
Layouts are set in motion
when a sensor is triggered or via the menu on the touch screen

The museum presents a complex of the most complex multimedia installations of various scales: from huge scanners for wagons and locomotives,
to miniature models of railway infrastructure. All elements of the museum's multimedia complex are equipped with remote launch systems and are part of a single automation system
Several installations of the museum have been awarded professional international awards

The key themes of the museum's exposition are represented by monumental, detailed architectural installations, which include: structural elements, setting scenes, sculptural compositions, information and reference systems
and multimedia components. The main principles in their creation are scientific reliability, ergonomics and purity of the image.
The photo shows the Telegraphist installation, which includes two multimedia telegraph machines that allow visitors to send messages to each other using Morse code.
